The very word has the most interesting of effects on people so I'm gonna start my first informational page with a brief discusion of what demonology is and what we do. Demonology as one might guess from the name is the study of demons and can be divided into three major catagories. The first catagory is mostly as a kind of historical curiousity looking at the history of the belief in evil spirits and its impact on such historical events as the witch hunts and the inquisition. The second catagory for lack of a more fitting word is the dark side practiced by satanists, devil worshipers, black witches and the like(when I say witch in this particular sense I DO NOT mean wiccans if any thing they fall into the third catagory if at all) and is the study of calling up evil spirits to do your bidding through rites of black magick. The third and probably the least understood group is the good guys. The DVDR and groups like us recognize the fact that demons do in fact exist(if you take the new testament and the words of Jesus seriously you have no room to argue the bible is very specific on this other religions have there own evil spirits to be it the rahaska of hinduism, the shedim or dybbuk of judiasm, the djinn of islam or what ever else you wish to call it the belief in evil spirits is as old as the belief in ghosts and in angels possibly older). In some respects we are very similer to parapsychologists. We do study and document occurances but thats not all we do. When a person is suffering from a true demonic assault there is no simple solution. Demons are beyond reason and hate human kind and when one attacks it is physical and dangerous(the movie the Entity is a remarkable demonstration of what happens when parapsychology meets a demon and the devistation they can wreak on a persons life). What we do is fight back and teach people how to protect themselves through faith in the divine(I used divine here for a reason I and a number of my collegues do not believe only christians can do this whats required is faith in God as you precieve him, her, it or them) and when necissary blessings and the rite of exorcism. Yes contrary to popular oppinion exorcisms do happen all around the world(the United States is no exception) how many occur in a given year no one knows but they are more common than most people think. Most religions have there own form of exorcism and in truth the best exorcism is not necissarily the ritual romanum of the catholic church the best exorcism is one preformed by a priest of the clients own faith.
